Strategic Response

Antigua and Barbuda must rise to the opportunities and challenges of the global environment through a mandated quality public education system module. The nation must prepare and equip its people for the challenges and opportunities of globalization and liberalization by ensuring the development of its human resource toward national advancement and global interaction within the following framework:

  • A public education management system for the advancement of Antigua and Barbuda to meet the challenges of the world, focusing on training, retraining, retooling, certification and career guidance.
  • Regional and international accreditation for the Antigua State College, within a restructured framework that will affect most polytechnic and degree programs on-island with significant savings to all stakeholders. Further this institution must be developed into an academia of excellence for local and regional access.
  • National television and radio must be integrated into the educational system as a medium of transporting educational services into all homes, which will prove an invaluable asset to information communication of the virtual classroom principle.
  • A vibrant educational system, which will lift the spirit and self-esteem of Antiguans and Barbudans as access and achievements become common on a global field of competitive equivalency, unlimited opportunity and performance integrity.
  • An effective, free, primary and secondary education delivery system and structure, which satisfies the social, political and economic needs of its citizens and residents in an active and stimulating learning environment.
  • An expanded public educational system with improved instructional strategy, which integrates information technology and learning while providing the opportunities to develop maximum potential.
